Why is your projector losing brightness? The importance of professional maintenance.
Projector brightness is not just about lamp power
Many users believe that a fading image is solely due to a wearing lamp. That's a myth. In 70% of cases, the culprit is dust settling on optical components. Projectors pump huge amounts of air during operation, making them act like small vacuum cleaners.
How does dust destroy your equipment?
Contaminants settle on filters, polarizers, and matrices. This causes several problems:
- Drop in contrast: The image becomes "foggy".
- Discoloration: Dust settling on the LCD matrix causes yellow or brown spots on a white background.
- Overheating: Clogged filters restrict airflow, shortening the life of electronics.
Why is compressed air a bad idea?
A common mistake is using compressed air through the ventilation grilles. This is the easiest way to drive dust even deeper – straight onto the matrix or the inside of the lens. Professional cleaning in a service center involves completely dismantling the optics and cleaning them in a dust-free environment using specialized chemicals.
When to send the projector for service?
We recommend full maintenance at least once every 12 months for home use and every 6 months in offices or schools. Remember: a clean projector means not only a better picture but also much quieter fan operation!
