Dark and faded image? Time to replace the projector lamp.
When does a projector lamp lose its power?
The lifespan of a standard projector lamp is usually between 2000 and 5000 hours, depending on the operating mode (Eco/Normal). A significant drop in brightness and faded, "washed-out" colors are the first signs that the burner has reached the end of its life. Projectors themselves inform about the need for replacement via a special message on the screen or a yellow/red "Lamp" LED.
Typical symptoms of a worn-out bulb
- Drastic drop in contrast: Blacks become gray, and bright elements are barely visible, especially during the day.
- Image flickering: Unstable voltage on a worn burner causes annoying light "jumping".
- Loud bang: An extremely worn lamp can physically explode, scattering glass inside the projector chamber.
DIY replacement or professional service?
The tempting low price of lamps from unknown sources often ends in damage to the power supply module (ballast). Original modules (or branded OEM bulbs) guarantee factory parameters. A professional projector service will not only properly install the lamp without touching the bulb with fingers but also reset the hour counter in the service menu and clean the lamp chamber of dangerous dust.
Trust proven optics
Investing in original components pays off in the form of a flawless image. Regular replacement also prevents overloading the power electronics, which protects the equipment from much more expensive repairs.
