Cooling system and image degradation
Projectors are devices that operate in extreme thermal conditions. The discharge lamp generates huge amounts of heat, which must be dissipated by a system of fans and filters. Over time, filters become clogged with dust, which leads to overheating of LCD matrices or the DLP color wheel.
Regular maintenance (Cleaning Service) is not just about blowing out the dust. It's a process of:
- Dismantling the optimal path (light engine).
- Cleaning polarizers in an ultrasonic bath.
- Replacing thermal pastes on graphic processors.
Failure to service leads to permanent damage, such as burning out polarizers (yellow spots on the image) or damaging the DMD chip (white/black dots).
